□ Raindrops' Waltz / レインドロップス　ワルツ

Raindrops’Waltz was born in November 2002. During construction work, there were huge leaks in the roof of my Paris flat, and the dripping almost drove me mad! After the piano’s short introduction, a theme of 8 bars and then 4 different melodies are introduced. The character of this piece is somehow cheerful, in contrast to the real misery of the situation I was in. (Composed for violin and piano in November 2002, arranged for violin and orchestra in April 2023)

２００２年１１月に屋根工事の手違いによりパリの私の部屋に５日間に亘る大変な雨漏りが発生し、半ば頭が変になった時突然生まれた。短いピアノの前奏に続きまず８小節のテーマ、そして４つの異なる旋律が表れる。曲の書かれた時の悲惨な状況とはかけ離れた明るい曲となっている。（２００２年１１月ヴァイオリンとピアノ版作曲・２０２３年４月ヴァイオリンとオーケストラ版に編曲）


□ La Neige (Snow) / ラ　ネージュ（雪）

While looking down from an aircraft over the Russian mountains, suddenly I had a vision of large snowflakes falling very slowly. The snow increases in intensity to a snowstorm. Afterwards it becomes calm, and bright sunlight glitters on the surface of the snow. (April 2004)

飛行機の窓からロシアの山脈を見降ろしていると突然、ゆっくりと雪が降っている幻が目に浮かんだ。雪は激しさを増して吹雪となり、やがてまた静かに降った後は雪面に太陽がキラキラと輝いている。（２００４年４月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.1 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１番

Anecdote No.1 was composed right after visiting the castles of Loire in France in the summer of 2001. Written in ternary form, the violin starts with a cheerful flowing melody. The piano succeeds with a Russian-like melody in minor, and the piece ends with a short coda. (September 2001)

２００１年の夏にフランス、ロワールの古城めぐりをした直後に作曲。三部形式で書かれており、明るく爽やかに流れるヴァイオリンの旋律からピアノのややロシア風な短調の旋律へと移る。最後は短いコーダで終わる。（２００１年９月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.２　"Esperance ( Hope )" / アネクドット（小さなお話）第２番　”希望”

Subtitled "Hope," this piece is written in a compound ternary form. It is a slow piece with a romantic character. (May 2003)

”希望”というサブタイトルを持つこの曲は複合三部形式で書かれており、ロマンティックな性格 のゆったりした作品である。（２００３年５月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.３ / アネクドット（小さなお話）第３番

In February 2005, I was thinking about how aggressive and complicated music did not appeal to me. I wanted to write a piece which was peaceful, short and simple, with a calm dialogue between violin and piano. (February 2005)

２００５年２月、自分には攻撃的で複雑な音楽は向いていないと感じていた時、いかに単純で短い、 自分に合った曲が出来るかと思い書いた曲。ヴァイオリンとピアノの穏やかな対話から成っている。（２００５年２月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.４ / アネクドット（小さなお話）第４番

This piece was born from the impression of white clouds that I saw from the bus going to the Palace of Fontainebleau in France in the fall of 2006. It consists of a quiet part without wind and a middle part with a little movement. It is a very simple and short piece. (December 2006)

2006年の秋、仏フォンテンブロー城へ行くバスの中から見た白い雲の印象を音にまとめたもので、風のない静かな部分と少し動きのある中間部より成っている。極めて単純で短い小品である。（２００６年１２月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.５　"Monet's Pond" / アネクドット（小さなお話）第５番　”モネの池”

This piece was born from the impression I had when I saw the "Water Lily Pond" at Monet's house in Giverny, France in June 2008. It was a beautiful sunny day with no wind, and the silence was so impressive as if time had stopped. (September 2008)

２００８年６月にフランス・ジヴェルニーにあるモネの家の「水蓮の池」を見た時の印象を音にしたもの。その日は風が全く無い良く晴れた日で、時間が止まったかのような静寂さが印象的であった。（２００８年９月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.６ "Planetarium and Sapporo JR Tower T38 (an observatory) " / アネクドット（小さなお話）第６番　”プラネタリウムとJRタワーT３８”

When I saw the planetarium and the night view of Sapporo in September 2009, both were as beautiful as if they were studded with jewels of light. This piece is a sound summary of the quiet impression I had at that time. (October 2009)

２００９年の９月にプラネタリウムと札幌の夜景を見た時、どちらも光の宝石をちりばめたように美しかった。この曲はその時の静かな感動を音にまとめたものである。（2009年10月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.7 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第７番

I composed this piece with a motivation that I wanted to write a healthy piece full of vitality that would cheer up anyone who listens to it. It was written with the aim of unstoppable flow and simplicity, rather than an eccentric new expression. (March 2011)

この曲は、お聴き下さる方が元気になれるような生命力に溢れた健康的な曲を作りたいという思いで作曲した。奇抜な新しい表現よりも、止まらない流れと単純さを目指して書いたものである。（2011年３月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.8 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第８番

I composed this piece hoping that those who listen to it could relax. It is a friendly piece with a simple structure even though it modulates twice. (January 2015)

この曲は、お聴き下さる方がリラックスできる曲を書こうと思って作曲したものである。２度転調するが単純な構造で、親しみやすい小品である。（２０１５年１月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.9 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第９番

This piece was born shortly after I started to improvise something every day. It was written in only five days, including the piano part. I used a lot of double stops in the middle section. (December 2015)

この曲は、毎日何か即興で演奏する時間を設けて間もなく生まれた。書き上げた日数もピアノパートを含めて５日間と短く、中間部に重音を多用した小品である。（２０１５年１２月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.10　"Love" / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１０番
　”愛”

This is the piece that I started working on as my first composition after the fire that burned down our house in 2017. It is a slow piece that attempts to express the "true love" in the 13th chapter of the First Corinthians in the Bible. (June 2021)

２０１７年に我が家に降りかかった火災後初の作曲作品として取りかかった曲。聖書コリント人への手紙第一13章にある「真の愛」を表現しようと試みた、ゆったりした小品である。（２０２１年６月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.11 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１１番

This is a short rondo-style piece that the violin plays waltz, following a short piano prelude. It has a pastoral, cheerful, and positive character. (November 2021)

短いピアノの前奏に続き、ヴァイオリンがワルツを奏でる短いロンド形式の小品。のどかで明るく前向きな性格の作品である。（２０２１年１１月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.12 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１２番

This piece has two different melodies in between the main theme, and it ends with a short coda. It is a lively waltz of vigorous character. (October 2022)

メインテーマの間に２つの異なる旋律が挟まれており、最後は短いコーダで終わる作品。躍動感のあるはつらつとしたワルツである。（２０２２年１０月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.13 "Soliloquy" for solo violin / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１３番 ”独り言” ー 無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための

This is the only piece for unaccompanied violin in my "Anecdote Series" so far. It is a little piece that expresses an introverted, calm and clear mind. (May 2023)

これまでの「アネクドット・シリーズ」で初めての無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための作品。内向的で静かな澄んだ精神を表現した小品である。（２０２３年５月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.14 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１４番

This little piece has two themes. It is a fast and lively waltz which I mainly developed the second theme. (June 2023)

２つの主題を持つこの小品は、主にその第２主題を展開させた、テンポの速い軽快なワルツである。（２０２３年６月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.15 / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１５番

Almost the entire piece is written in single notes with a calm and slow tempo. Although the middle section shows some excitement, this piece has a calm and quiet character throughout. (August 2023)

ほぼ全曲が単音で書かれた心穏やかなゆったりしたテンポの作品。中間部では盛り上がりを見せるものの全体を通して落ち着いた、静かな性格の曲である。（２０２３年８月作曲）


□ Anecdote No.16 "Soliloquy 2" for solo violin / アネクドット（小さなお話）第１６番 ”独り言２” ー 無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための

This piece is for unaccompanied violin and uses many double stops, but it has an extremely simple structure with no development of the theme. It is a small piece with a quiet and relaxed melody of calm character throughout. (September 2023)

無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための作品で重音を多用しているが、敢えて主題の展開がない極めて単純な構造の作品。静かでゆったりとした曲調で、全体を通して落ち着いた性格の小品である。（２０２３年９月作曲）


□ Psalm142 "When he was in a cave" / 詩篇１４２ ”彼が洞窟にいたときに”　（Commentary on the process of composing this piece is here./ この曲の作曲過程解説はこちら)

Psalm 142 is a prayer of David, later King of Israel, when he fled into a cave from king Saul who wanted to take his life. It is an unaccompanied piece with simple structure consisting of two themes, using double stops throughout. In the cold dark cave, David finds light and hope through prayer. (April 1999)

「彼が洞窟にいたときに」というサブタイトルを持つこの曲は、後のイスラエル王ダビデがサウル王に命を狙われて洞窟に身を隠していた時の祈りを音にしたものである。無伴奏のため重音を駆使しているが、２つのテーマから成る単純な構成である。暗く冷たい洞窟の中でダビデは祈りによって希望の光を見出す。（１９９９年４月作曲）


□ From Little Red Riding Hood / 「赤ずきんちゃん」より

"Waltz ” / ”ワルツ”

This is originally a musical composition for flute, bassoon, piano with narration, written in 1993, that consists of 8 small pieces. I arranged “Waltz”, the final piece, for violin and piano in October 2004, radically rewriting the piano part. It is a small piece with a cheerful character that decorates the happy ending of the story.

１９９３年に書かれたフルート、ファゴット、ピアノとナレーションのための音楽劇「赤ずきんちゃん」は 全８曲から成っている。その最終曲である「ワルツ」を２００４年１０月に自らピアノパートに大幅な改訂を加えながらヴァイオリンとピアノ用に編曲したもの。物語のハッピーエンドを飾る明るい性格の小品である。


□ Peaceful / ピースフル（平安な）

I wrote this piece hoping for those who listen to this music to get relaxed and to become feeling good. I aimed this work to be natural in order to express a calm, peaceful and happy feeling. (February 2013)

この曲は、お聴き下さる方がリラックス出来て気分が良くなるような曲を作りたいという思いで作曲した。穏やかで心が平安な幸福感を表現するため、自然さを目指して書いたものである。（２０１３年２月作曲）


□ Spacious / スペイシャス（ゆったりと）

Almost the whole piece is written in single notes in a relaxed tone as the title suggests. This work has a very wide range. (January 2017)

タイトル通りのゆったりした曲調でほぼ全て単音で書かれており、非常に音域の広い作品となっている。（２０１７年１月作曲）


□ Flow / フロー（流れる）

As the title suggests, I wrote this piece with the image of a "flow". It is an energetic work that gains momentum as the flow quickens in places. (April 2022)

タイトル通り「流れ」をイメージして書いた曲。ところどころ流れが速くなり勢いを増すエネルギッシュな作品である。（２０２２年４月作曲）


□ Simple / シンプル

A small piece in ternary form with broken chords in the melody. It is a slow piece with a simple structure. (August 2022)

分散和音を旋律に含む、３部形式の小品。シンプルな構成のゆったりした作品である。（２０２２年８月作曲）


□ Sound of Heaven / 天の音

This piece was improvised when I was performing at a church service in London in 1997, when pastor suddenly asked me to play something. The piece was originally over six minutes long, but this is the "short cut version" that I often play.

この曲は１９９７年にロンドンの教会の礼拝にて演奏していたときに、突然牧師から何か演奏するように頼まれてとっさに即興演奏したものである。本来６分以上の曲であるが、こちらはよく演奏する「ショートカット版」である。


□ Memorial Piece / 追悼曲　（長い曲解説はこちら）

This is the first work that I composed as a 'small piece for solo violin and orchestra' to perform at the memorial concert for Mr. Haruo Kishigami, the founder of "Resonance for Everyone (concert)". It expresses my memories, gratitude, and mourning as a story that tells his warm personality. (Composed for violin and orchestra in November 2016, arranged for violin and piano in November 2022)

この曲は当初、「万人の響」創設者・岸上春生様の追悼コンサートで演奏するために書いた作品で、初めて「ソロヴァイオリンとオーケストラのための小品」として作曲した曲。お世話になった思い出や感謝と追悼を、彼の温かいお人柄を表すストーリーとして表現したものである。（２０１６年１１月ヴァイオリンとオーケストラ版作曲・２０２２年１１月ヴァイオリンとピアノ版に編曲）


□ Glory Medley (arrangement) / グローリー　メドレー （編曲作品）

This is a medley of two gospel songs, "To God be the Glory" by Andrae Crouch, and "Oh the Glory of Your Presence" by Steve Fry. It was first arranged for violin solo, and later the piano part was added with Ms. Megumi Yoshida's collaboration. The piece begins introverted then gradually builds to an uplifting strength, with brilliant arpeggios and double stops bringing the piece to a climactic conclusion. (Written for violin and piano in September 1998, arranged for violin and orchestra in May 2015)

アンドレ・クラウチ作曲「神に栄光あれ」、スティーヴ・フライ作曲「あなたの臨在の栄光」という２曲のゴスペルソングによるこのメドレーは、初めヴァイオリン・ソロ用に編曲、後に吉田恵氏の協力を得てピアノパートを作成したものである。内向的に始まるが徐々に高揚し、華麗なるアルペジオや重音奏法が曲の最後を盛り上げている。（１９９８年９月ヴァイオリンとピアノ版作成・２０１５年５月ヴァイオリンとオーケストラ版に編曲）
